This is my first real hardcore mech design I've uploaded, and I consider it one of my favorites. The influence of Gundam should be pretty obvious here, but this is a completely original design and it's not a mobile suit. It's a STAAR = Space Tactical Anthropomorphic Armored Rifleman. I needed to create an original short-cut term for my mech designs, rather than just calling them mechs and to avoid calling them mobile suits. Anyway, this is one of my STAAR designs. Hopefully I can do a cg colored version soon, but for now please enjoy my pencil line drawing. Even though I have gobs of Gundam art books, I don't need them for reference for my designs. So comments, critiques are welcome. And yes, I can draw things other than cat-girls. :)
Looks like a Zeon Mobile Suit (either a Zaku or a Gouf mobile suit) on steroids. Totally wicked.!Thanks, from one mech designer to another. Even though I didn't base this design on any existing mobile suit design, I'm sure I was influenced by one of my favorite suits - the AGX-04 Gerbera Tetra (almost the RX-78 GP04). I need to stop being lazy and color the damn thing already. Thanks again.

Cool mech, looks more influenced by Evanglion to me. I was just wonderin, though: Can it fly?*he he* Thanks for the comment. Sorry, but Gundam and Macross are pretty much my main influences for mechanical design (and most of that is the former). Of course it can fly...well, at least in space (it kicks @ss in zero-g!).

looks Darn cool! but one thing: theres not much room for the engine... Um...not sure what you mean. It's got lots of thrusters in all the places where it needs 'em, and there's plenty of room inside the main fuselage for an anime-sized fusion powerplant. Thanks for the comment!

Yes, you're partly correct...I love the design of the GP02A - it's just such a big, tough looking design. Also, I'd have to say that the AGX-04 Gerbera Tetra and the Neue Ziel (I forget the ident for that one...) were sources of influence as well. The gun came out very nicely and unlike a lot of my weapons doesn't look like the M-41A from Aliens. =) Thanks for the comment!
I see a VERY small resemblance to the Tall Geese. Maybe its just me, or maybe its just the boosters. Anyhow, looks fekkin awesome dude. Keep em coming. I *heart* mecha..errr...STAARs XD
