SciFi and Fantasy Art: Melted

this picture took me any where from ten to 15 hours to do and is actually much larger than what you see on screen. It was hell to scan and piece together.

Hey Jennifer,

This is very good. I absolutely admire the way you did the paws, excellent job on them. Interesting background and concept, I'm trying to figure out the story behind this drawing. I think it would be nice to show the second wing, it feels like something is missing. Otherwize Kutgw!

Callypso.

The face of the creature is very touching. S/he seems so old and forlorn..

Oh what an absolutely beautiful picture. Everything is seemingly perfect. The detail that went into this is amazing and breathtaking. My favorite part of the dragon is his feet. Great work!

Ancient beings on eternal path as the 'city' fades to silloette beyond. feet have found the path though still have yet to detect its direction. but the older and wiser form knows and has confidence.

I am so glad you took it as CC and not as harsh meaness. When I got the first email reply I thought I'd hurt your feelings or something and that was not what I meant at all. Seriously, I have been through a lot of your work and it is all really really good. I even went through your wyverns and thought that was really good too - whether you think it's too angsty or not, it is still great art.

Seriously, I hope I can be as good as you someday... we'll just have to wait and see if you come along and give me constructive criticism too, once I'm published of coure (still 1620 tickets to go - bleh!).

=D

I think part of the reason for posting in a community like elfwood is to get some good feedback. Sure the "wow" comments are nice ego boosters but they really aren't all that helpful to me. If something looks wonky how will I ever get better if I don't realize it? So yeah I love getting CC personally, though I know there are a lot of people out there that don't take it well I'm not one of them. Anyway thanks for the CC and I'll be sure to check out your gallery when it finally makes it through the ticket queue 2"

Not to nitpick or anything, seeing as you are an amazing artist, in both the written and drawn, but there seems to be something wrong with whatever it is that guy is standing on...well, more with HOW the guy is standing on it. I don't know if it's a mistake in perspective, or if the structure is purposely deceptive in its depth, and the 'roof' is supposed to get wider as it gets higher and further away, but the way my mind reads the picture tells me that the guy is standing on a plane that shouldn't exist.

However, apart from that one tiny little thing, the piture is absolutely exellent - I love the detail in the dragon and it's shading. Well done.

:-) Jennifer Alice Peters replies: "I honestly don't know what I was doing in this picture, all I can hide behind is the "it's old" aliby, circa 1999 somewhere around there. I need to clean out some of these older images in my gallery, so I don't have to try and defend the funky perspectives, anatomy and crappy shading techniques. This picture still has a few redeeming qualities so I keep it for sentimentals purposes, it was one of my first elfwood uploads so it does hold some fondness for me. Almost forgot to add, thanks for the CC I appreciate when people take the time to give helpful crit like you have here."
