| 5 Aug 2005 | Caitlin L. Armstrong | ohhh, it gives me goose bumbs. I love it! good job on the simplisity off it. some people don't do enough, while others tdo to much. this is perfect, like a god. Jennifer Alice Peters replies: "It's hard to find the balance between what is too much and what is too simple. I tend to lean towards the simplicity side. If you can be concise sometimes your message is more clear. Thanks for the compliment though, I'm flattered that you find the balance just right, I couldn't hope to achieve more." | |
| 5 Aug 2005 | Joslyn Rubin | Ooooo.. Sooo pretty... *stares and drools* i love the shadow.. And the wings.. Omg. The wings. Jennifer Alice Peters replies: "I'm glad you like the wings, I strugled with them more than any other part of the drawing. I must've spent hours layering different colors till I found a decent balance. Thanks." | |
| 5 Aug 2005 | Meghan P. McGinnis | Very haunting picture. Jennifer Alice Peters replies: "The darker moods always seem to come through the easiest. Thanks." | |
| 6 Aug 2005 | Coriander shea Detwiler | As I've found also, sometimes the simplest pieces convey emotions the strongest....this is well showcased with this piece....I think that you have given me the idea to put my poetry on here as accompaniment to my art....hmmmm.....beautiful, beautiful piece.....it surprised me when I first saw it because it is quite similar to the mannequin pieces that I do.....not to balloon myself up on self-importance, but I think after seeing this, you would appreciate them...you should check them out. As I read your poetry and from there, went on to see your bio and main page, it became clearer to me that we are quite alike in thought and speech, thus, I respect this piece and the emotional power inherent.....once again, simply beautiful. Congratulations. Jennifer Alice Peters replies: "Just as a piece of info so you don't have to go through what I did, you'll have to quote yourself or the source of your poem if you post it with your work. I found this out the hard way and this picture was originally rejected from elfwood because I didn't think to quote my own poetry. Art and poetry go together lovely I think, thanks for the comment." | |
| 6 Aug 2005 | Maisha 'Elenwyn' Foster-O'Neal | That poem (thing) is beautiful! Slicing a door in time... ahhh, I love writings like that! Woooonderful! And the art fits it very well, too, the sickle and carrion wings, and no face... mmm... *happy sigh* Congrats on the Mod's Choice, well earned! Jennifer Alice Peters replies: "Thanks. Everytime someone says something nice about my writing I feel a small triumph over the writing teachers in my past who told me my writing was terrible. " | |
| 6 Aug 2005 | Emily McDurman | It looks like a carousel horse if you look close enough... nice illusions. Jennifer Alice Peters replies: "It does sort of doesn't it. I didn't realize how the handle of the scythe implied that effect. Just goes to show how accident can create some nice results. Thanks." | |
| 12 Nov 2005 | Zuya Zarei | I love the way that you convey emotion simply using body positions and props within your drawings. The sickle and the dragon-like shadow give the impression of an angel of death, However, with the sickle held behind him and the light-footed landing, it comes across as a more reluctant angel of death. Not evil...just doing a necessary task.
Congratulations on the Mod's choice! | |
| 28 Jan 2006 | Anonymous | I like the picture, and I love the poem/lines. Go poets! | |
| 3 Mar 2006 | Stacy | This is really good, i love pictures with no faces i think its because i feel they say so much more than a drawn expression, it's funny a lot of people who view pictures that are faceless and with no expression, always seem to look at the faces for longer, it seems to reach out to the viewer more. Jennifer Alice Peters replies: "I think for an image like this a face would humanize it too much. You can read so much in a human face and I didn't want to draw attention or make presumptions. The lack of a face I think lets people better envision their own image of death." | |
| 4 Jun 2007 | Emily "Raven Bluemoon" | I think it resembles modern mans faceless conformety.
Very nice. | |
