SciFi and Fantasy Art: Rhinocampus colored

Well as usual the original looks much better, there's a bit of blurriness here, blame the scanner, otherwise I think it's pretty good for my first attempt at an underwater scene. Yeah, yeah I know I need a background, but really you're lucky I did this much, busy with finals right now :/

Just beautiful, this is one of my favorites of yours, I love your creativity and ideas, they are fun and lighten my otherwise down day!

Wow... they're so cute! *Hugs one of them and forgets I can't breath underwater.* Erk! *Gasps and floats to the surface, gasping for air.* Bwah... anyways, are those battle scars, or just a reflection from the surface of the water? Just curious... great work, by the way! I love your art!

I love the lighting work dancing on their bodies. I just kinda wish there was a background ^_~

I know this is comment was posted months after the others, but still.....I love this piece, as well as your other works. (Griffins! Squeee!) The only thing I see is the shading on the dorsal fin of the big rhinocampus. The way it's shaded makes it look like it's tilted inwards, while the body is straight. Maybe it's on purpose, I dunno. But other than that, the picture is great!

And, by the way, evolution CAN allow them to have hooves. I do believe they could come onto land, too. Bet those hooves would come in handy then, huh?

:-) Jennifer Alice Peters replies: "well this may be a fairly old drawing but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate comments on it. Thanks for the C&C I do see what you mean about the dorsal fin, funny how you don't notice things like that. I think I was confused about the light source, coloring being fairly new to me at the time, some of the lighting is definitely off. I still like the piece though, and I agree why can't they have hooves? 2"

This picture is... well, how can I explain? Well I'll try...
This picture is brilliant and very inspiring! I have looked at this beautiful artwork in great detail and it is a great work. I've tried in the past to draw similar things and they always end up very, um... carton like. My realistic drawings tend to my dragons (and your dragons are also cool.) and other creatures I have created. It shows me that you are dedicated to each drawing in your own way. Congrats!

That's amazing. I love the light on their backs, and the detailing in their manes...very inspiring, like someone before said.

That's a cool idea, using dolphin instead of fish. I think that's the first I've seen it done. While the fish looks more fanciful, I suppose dolphin would be a tad more realistic since they are mammals and all.

OOOOO, that's cool.
