SciFi and Fantasy Art: Sakhmet

well I said I was going to draw Bastet, but Sakhmet seems to be the more popular of the feline goddesses. Her name means 'powerful' and she is the goddess of war. .. screwed up the spelling of her name... I put Sahkmet, when it is actually Sakhmet... or so it says in my huge book of egypt

Hey
I tthought the picture looks pretty cool and awesome for mr project but the picture also makes the "powerful" lioness look slutty i mean is that what u want people to think of her as!!!!!!!

:-) Jennifer Michelle Kerr replies: "who are these "people" you are speaking of? last time i checked, these comments were to improve MY art, not peoples art. You can't help me unless you tell me what about her looks slutty. What should I fix, her clothes? her stance? her expression? try being a little more constructive about the comments you leave here, and then i might appreciate them. mr project??"

ok, it depends on your references and the area of Egypt, but it is spelled both ways, with an e and with an a, so its all ok. Second. Slutty? Slutty is fine, she's a goddess of Love too, kinda like Ishtar. I don't know what about her looks slutty except maybe the sly glance, but I wouldn't change it anyway.

as for her being more popular, I wouldn't say that. I think Bastet is far more popular (though I like Sekhmet myself!)

I like her expression...she looks very smug about something. Good job working in the authenticity--the dress and vulture headdress is common in Egyptian art. Awesome colouring, shading, etc...but what's with the feet?

I love the pose, the dress and the background...but the face looks weird. Kind of like a gnu's head. But maybe I just stared at it too long. I love your egyptian pics. Which program do you use?

:-) Jennifer Michelle Kerr replies: "photoshop"

I love this piece. Egyptian mythology is very interesting. Sekhmet looks very smug about something. Great job!
