SciFi and Fantasy Art: Anthro Gryphon

This was drawn to prove my theory that drawing anything anthro was easy. I don't know who this character is, what it's history is, or weather it's a guy or gal. Looks like a guy to me though. I like the grainy look from shading and then having the thing get blown up. I don't use any kind of special pen for doing this sort of thing, I just use a uni-ball 'vision' fine tiped pen. You can get them at dang near every office suply place on the plannet. They lay a great ink line and are even water proof and fade proof so if you ever happen to drop your sketchbook over the side of a ship (and were actualy able to recover it) it would be all nice and non-runny...though you would have to pick bits of seaweed out of it. I like this picture, he dosent apear to have another arm but thats ok because it's probably behind him. Whatcha people think?

I like the way he's all feathery and matted and looking a little ungroomed. He's a barbarian gryf anthro. Another cool pen that I like to use are those cool gel pens. They're smooth, and the lines get really, really black. ACK! Who invented those things?? They're so awesome! This gryf is looking fantastic.

Ok, well I hate to hack on a beginning artist because I am crap at anthro art. I hope you continue to make anthro art and develop a real talent but honestly anthro art is not easy if you plan on drawing anything other than mediocre stuff.

These are examples of some really good anthro art. I would never expect a begining artist to be able to do that straight away. I just want you to realize that what you are drawing is barely scraping the surface. You cannot claim that this is the best anthro art you can offer. You should use everything you can as inspiration and aim to produce better and better stuff. After all great anthro artists are simply beginning artists who didn't give up.
