| 10 May 2008 | Samantha Baugus | The picture reminds me of two things. The first is the glass bird Polgara gets (Polgara the sorceress in David Edding’s books The Belgariad and The Mallorean) and the second is a phoenix. I’m not sure what to think of the girl... Maybe she is thefairy guardian of the soul of the phoenix, or she is givng her life up to let the phoenix live, or the phoenix has to protect her at all costs... Jessica ´Jezz´ Majeran replies: "I’ve never read Polgara, nor heard of it until you brought it up. Hehe. I like the concept you gave to the drawing. ^_^ Thank you for the comment!" | |
| 10 May 2008 | Dragomir Cristian Madalin | i agree with samantha, but i think the phoenix is actually the expression of her desires and powers maybe, the bird starts to appear from the center of one’s existence(somewhere near the heart) while the fire seems to originate from the feet- the contact with the plain of reality, somehow like she is actually born, nurtured, consumed by those flames. (i have a bug somewhere in what i said, but the idea is to complex to let it out so good job seems like it awaits coloring but try to do one with pencil shadowing to Jessica ´Jezz´ Majeran replies: "Actually, you are very much on the idea of it. My Co-worker actually talked a lot about how she wanted it, and stated what it’s supposed to represent, and that’s very accurate. Although.. the nurturing and being born, it could be the idea as well, but I think she was going more for... desire, and power.
And I don’t know about coloring it. I’m wary on that. Pencil shading I could probably do though. Thank you for the comment, and I’ll consider your advice on coloring/shading it. " | |
| 11 May 2008 | Dragomir Cristian Madalin | try doing on a copy of it, don’t ruin the original (it’s too go to accidently destroy it ) Jessica ´Jezz´ Majeran replies: "I could, but I’m pretty bad on re-drawing the same thing. :x" | |
