SciFi and Fantasy Art: Mermaid with pirate flag

I came across her in a notebook the other day, I had started on her and never finshed her. The only thing I can't figure out is why I did her hand the way I did.

The arms and neck is better but the nead is now slightly out. you probably already know that. Well good job.

Ooo...I think that's very cool. Yes, her hands are a bit small, but you drew it, you probably noticed! I like. ^_^

‘Tis what I've always said, lads; never trust a mermaid! Sure, she'd sing ye to sleep with her serene voice and her eyes are like gems from the treasures of the oceans, but once ye look the other way the blasted wench will steal yer flag! Bloody half-fish!

sorry, hit the button before I was ready.
This is very good by the way, though you can tell where you left off in the sky and where you added later. You should make the sky more uniform in style, (i like the darker parts best) to it doesn't draw the eye away from her hair.

:-) Jason Hood replies: "I just shrank it down per the elfwood instruction and now the various shades of black show that didn't in the past - I may haul her out and see what I can do -thanks for the comment onm the sails -i know nothing about boats - is there anyhing additional I should know if I try this effect again?"

she might be pointing the flag out to someone off screen.
By the way, the sails are too small for the ship!

The perspective relation between the mermaid and the ship is a bit odd, but otherwise a great picture.

I have been looking for a mermaid flag for years. This would be perfect! It's an awesome picture!

This is great! I am interested in buying a Mermaid flag and the one you did is beautiful. Are you selling them?

I think the pirate-flags were called something about Jack.. jolly Jack or something.... Great Picture...

Jolly Rogers do seem to have actually existed, some variation on the theme anyway; they came in various embellishments, pirates being an anarchic lot. They're not going to like losing it, though, and I'd advise that lass to swim for it- not that it won't take them some time to beat up into the wind, especially after losing both topmasts and topgallants. I'd love to know how she did it, though. Flying-fish leap out of the water?
