SciFi and Fantasy Art: Angel of Music

10-17-00

Inspired to draw this one while listening to The Phantom of the Opera. simple pic, not much too it..boy, drawing hands holding a violin is a pain *chuckles*..and the fingers are still smacked up but oh well.. Btw, I'm aware that the face sucks...I have a tendancy to draw sort of small, so that was hard to get in. Not to happy with the forward wing either..*Shrugs* HB pencil as usual .5 mm mechanical

Not bad. The violin is a little weird-looking, but I really like the wings. And I also really like the whole idea of the Angel of Music. Phantom was a good play. :21miles:: Keep up the good work. An honor to share Gallery 512 with you.

Hi, you sound alot like me, always striving for perfection and never quite reaching it. *sigh* If only, if only. Sometimes the end just doesn't justify the means. Anyway, this is a really good concept but I do have a suggestion. Maybe if you tried shading in the muscles instead of drawing them. I am not sure if that makes sense or not. See, I am currently studying the anatomy to make my human drawings more realistic and I have noticed that muscles can't really be drawn, but only implied. Does that make sense? Anyway, I think you are well on your way to great drawing and I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Pretty good, man. Heh...I wanted to play violin, once upon a time. Then I tried. I decided to stick with guitar.

this is really good, i know how hard it is to draw someone holding a violin (its easier to play then draw,) one little thing the face should be facing more towards the front, the side of the jaw actually rests on the chin rest, otherwise you have a very beautiful pic here and a wonderful bow hold in the left hand*-*

hehe, thankya =) glad at least one of the hands looked somewhat ok =)..I personally think it's smacked up...maybe i'll re-do this'n some day..and actually find someone to model for me, the proper way to hold that wonderful instrument. =)

Well, I know nothing about music, so my comment is based on what I do know, anatomy. You have a wonderful concept here, but there are few things that detract from it. The legs and torso are disproportionate, I'd say that the legs could handle being shorter, and the torso lengthened. The arms seem a bit short, a good rule of thumb is that when your arm is hanging down by your side, the tips of your fingers reach mid-thigh. As far as musculature and the wings go, you have nice ideas and details, but you might want to look at anatomy books for the chest, abs and arms, the muscles on this seem a bit cartoonish. I would suggest looking at eagle or swan wings for a better idea of how the feathers are placed. Don't be afraid to use a little more shading!
