SciFi and Fantasy Art: Subtlety made dwarf

So... I was very disappointed that, in the movie 'The Lord of the Ring' the dwarf Gimli was portayed like a caricature of an average AD&D character... Okay, stereotypes are easier, but this rough uneducated ill-manered thing would have been the shame of his glorious and proud fathers.

So here is my version of a dwarf. I chose to make him look like a samuraļ, because of the contrast I want to show between the dwarves being fearsome warriors, greedy and all, but not necesarily dumb barbarians with a country accent.

The bird is a 'great duke', to embody Wisdom (like Athena's owl...)
