SciFi and Fantasy Art: Baby Blue Dragon in Clay

This piece is a fired clay incense burner that I made over 2 decades ago. There was a fairly large gap in my efforts! It's a baby blue dragon crawling out of a stone... (well, *I* don't know how dragons are born!) The colors did not turn out that well, as they're fairly subtle. It works really well, though, with smoke curling out from under the wings and around the face of the dragon.

Ok, the minute somebody sees an incense burner like THIS, I want you to e-mail me, PRONTO. I still don't understand why fantasy never made it into the classic line of cheap, overexaggerated products. In fact, I think you should take up ceramics again, and then I want you to sell me your stuff.

Well, that's at least 3 votes to take up ceramics again. Maybe Sue will help me find a kiln, and I'll be all set!

And a fourth vote! This looks really good. And it's an extraordinary perspective. I love the little dragon!

It's so difficult to find sculptures in Elfwood, and this is very cute. I love the idea, the shape and the color!

It is adorable. I wanna cuddle it. Oh you are such an evil person. After that woodchat 'discussion' I was kinda hoping you'd only do evil nasty violent stuff and not something so cute 2 Oh this is not fair, how can I argue with you now, knowing you are the daddy of this baby dragon?
(oh yeah another vote for more clay)

I'll add my vote for more ceramics from JV. He's wonderful. (I meant the dragon, but I spose it could mean you, too, to the extent that I know you. *G*). I actually like how the subtle glaze worked...it gives it depth, and makes it seem like an earthier, natural hue.

J.V., Nice piece of work. Something that could be marketed these days with the increase in dragon lovers and fantasy enthusiast alike...keep up the great work, and congrats on artist of the day!!! 2JO.

And... you have another vote. You should keep working with clay, this was really awesome. I love the overall color of the dragon. I wish they really DID sell things like this on the market!!!

Yay, a fellow clay artist. Dragons are surprisingly easeir and more fun to make in 3d than in 2d, at least that is my opinion. This is very good good color good design. Good work.
