SciFi and Fantasy Art: ~ Merpeople ~

Graphite pencil sketch on paper. Just a mermaid with her merman. I love how the anatomy worked out for the merman and I admit the female's "chest" may be a bit too big now that i looked at it, but they both turned out really well. The scales took forever!

this is really good I just dont like the girl's abbs they seem a little wierd somehow

:-) John-Clayton Wilson replies: "Ya I see that her abs are a little weird. Huh. I'm coloring this pic with Photoshop(which currently isn't working for me right now) so I'll change the abs a bit. Thanks for the critique."

This is a great job on the merpeople. The scales are excellent. I wouldn't have the patience to make all them tiny scales. I have three Mermen in my gallery and believe me their scales are nothing like yours. Excellent!!

14 John-Clayton Wilson replies: "Ya the scales took forever. I'm coloring this as well but it might take some time. I enjoyed drawing these guys and I'll be sure to draw some more."

Are they married?

16 John-Clayton Wilson replies: "You know, I'm not sure. Maybe they are. I wonder if merpeople have marriages like humans do?? Hmmmmmm...."

Two beautifully designed characters! I love the body proportions and those scales are absolutely perfect - they lend such interest to the characters. I'm looking forward to seeing them coloured.

1 John-Clayton Wilson replies: "Thank you. I started coloring them in Photoshop but it's down for me right now. So I'm going to color them with pencil crayon soon. I have a lot more colored pics coming in the ticket line(not far now) if you're interested in stopping by again. I appreciate your comments!!"

It's really good, but...isn't the mermaid's shoulders and chest uneven? One side is wider.

16 John-Clayton Wilson replies: "Which side do you think looks bigger?? I can't tell the difference but if it's the right side (her left) it may be because her arm is lifting away a bit from her body so that might make it look bigger. And I actually made her chest way too big for her body! Sorry. I don't know what I was thinking when I drew that!"

Her left breast is smaller, and her left shoulder isn't as wide as the other.
