SciFi and Fantasy Art: Prince Charming

This picture was originally rejected because it wasn't fantasy enough, but I was told if I could show that it was fantasy then they'd let it in. So, let's try this again...

I wanted to paint a picture of a very common and un-exciting moment in a fantasy world. I picture this girl as a princess or a noble of some sort who is on the very edge of adulthood but is still, right now, just a child. In a few short weeks or even days something beyond what she can imagine will happen and she'll be plunged into a world of adventure and excitment, pain and hardship--of magic and war and knights and romance and all those other things that happen in epic tales of fantasy.

But, right now, she's still just a child who thinks the most wonderful thing in the world is to play with her pet cat whom she has named 'Prince Charming'.

23 Feb 2006	Dawn Crystal Totten	Loading... Very lovely I don't know why they didn't say it was fantasy enough there was one person who posted a picture of a pet with a halo and angel wings, there was nothing fantasy about that. This on the other hand reminds me of a medievel type fantasy.

It honestly does look like a photo, perfectly realistic, and it brings to mind images of happiness, innocence, and carefree joy, things that are so often left out of fantasy. The detail, from the ripples in the fabric that makes it appear silky, the individual stands of hair with all the different colors and light shining on it, to the cat, it's all phenomenal. Two thumbs way, way up and if I had a third thumb, I'd put that one up too. standing ovation
