SciFi and Fantasy Art: Climber ('99)

I don't draw too many dragons, so I was pleased this one turned out so well. I did a color version before this one, but it didn't have the scale texture and it doesn't look nearly as nice. The original is 11x14, so quite a bit of the scale detail has been lost.

10-99, ink, prismacolor greyscale markers, 11x14 sketchbook

The different size of the scales adds a nice touch. I also think the head is really awesome.

I bet this works beautifully as a tattoo. 8 ) And it's a great piece anyway. Gotta show this to my friend... She wants a dragon tattoo, too... ; D

I fell in love with this several years ago, and would often come back here to stare at it. Just a few days ago I got something EXTREMELY similar permanently affixed to my skin. My thanks to the artist for such a beautiful piece.

That would make a great tatoo! Can you imagine this guy crawling up someone's shoulder or back? Beautiful.
