SciFi and Fantasy Art: Down to the sea in ships

this is a dock scene in port primative (which is on a 3d art and discussion site called 3d nation: http://www.3dnation.com ) which is why i built the odd looking deckhouses with 'primative' solids; i.e. a sphere, a torus, a cylander, and a cube

John. Buy, steal, or hijack Bryce 3, Poser 3, Painter 5, and Ray Dream. This picture, and all your others, would be super impressive using Bryce's texture, and Boolean modeling capabilites. Your creatures could be modeled in Poser 3 (in connection with Ray Dream,) by distorting the human, and animal, figures, and their clothing painted with Painter 5. Although I like your cad pictures I see them as storyboard preliminaries for the final super-duper Metacreations versions. I say this as someone who is constantly redoing his own images. The original version of my "Exo-Archeology" image was very different from it's final version. I plan to redo a bunch of my images that are displayed on my webpage. I say this so as not to be misunderstood. I love your work, and it's storybook feel, but I want to see it in Disney (Metacreations) style. If I had a lot of money, (in fact, I'm in debt for 10 thousand dollars) I would buy and send you all those Metacreation programs. So, you see, I'm serious about this.

I couldn´t agree more with Tim. John you´ve got the creativity, all you need is a good set of 3d tools and the guys from Metacreations are got them for you, this and the other images cuold be improved a thousand times if you use Bryce for the landscapes and objects, and humanoids will look fantastic if you use Poser...you can get a demo of Bryce at Metacreations website which is www.metacreations.com, just get it and learn all its tricks..and in no time you´ll be painting wonderful (even more than these ones) digital pictures... and then i´ll have to learn from you..By the way thanks for all you "comments" and interpretations of my images...

The Jetsons meet the Flintstones again. I really like the perspective and the design elements in this. The architecture is visually appealing (methinks it's all those rounded corners)

Well i also agree with Tim above, but that doesn´t mean i like less of your work as it is now. You have style.

This dock makes me think of a futuristic ferry, barge, or cruise ship. Great designing and awesome themes with all.

For the most part, those big white ships look fairly round, and the shading makes sense. However, when you get to the darkest shadow, well, there is only one darkest shadow, and it makes that part of the ship look like a blob of grey stippling. Maybe this would be fixed if you rearranged the stippling to be denser in some areas and even define the shape of the ship a bit more.
