SciFi and Fantasy Art: Lord of the Mountain

February 2002, In Progress
This is turning into one of the largest and most time-consuming drawings I've done. It's mechanical pencil (of course!) on 11X14 white paper. :) All that's left to do really, I think, is to complete the background. I decided to go ahead and post it prematurely to see if anyone has suggestions as to how I should do the background or any other suggestions.... :) Please comment, especially on the background (or lack thereof)! Thanks a LOT!

This I my favorite pic of yours. I want the guys tiny waist and *squints at pic* um, 8-pack. Hell, I want his lizard friend while I'm at it. I like to think of him as a distant cousin of the Ninja Turtles. Amongst other reasons, because his leg muscles look like the Ninja turtles did from the movie(s). LOVE YOU TWO.

:-) Joshua T Smith replies: "Hehehe, I kinna thought the dragon's legs looked very frog-like. ;P It's my fav pic, too! 2 We love ya, too! Talk to ya online sometime"

Maybe he should be looking at an approaching army of some sort... Or someone to poke with that pointy stick of his

:-) Joshua T Smith replies: "Now that's a really cool idea. Some kind of impending danger or something. I like that! Thanks!"

Very nice picture, I like the shading. A background I suggest is a night sky wih the moon shining really bright and a picture of a flying dragon (w/ or w/out a rider) flying towards the guy looking over.Just to add more of a story to the picture. Or you could do a day sky, whatever you feel is best.

:-) Joshua T Smith replies: "Thank you very much!! Shading is fun!As for your BG ideas, I'm still not sure about doing a night sky unless it were really bright, but I do very much like the idea of something maybe flying in the distance. I definitely like pics that tell a story, so that would work well. 2 Thanks again!!!"

I love this picture. The guy's all Vin Diesel-ly. Except I'd hope Vin Diesel would be more...ahem...endowed than this guy. But who knows? It may be cold up on that mountain! The dragon is awesome. *sigh* I wish I had a dragon for a pet.

:-) Joshua T Smith replies: "Me too. I always imagine having a dragon walking on one side of me and a lion walking on the other. Cool."

Nice detales if u no what i mean i think u should put a loin cloth on the poor guy lol it makes him look to free a queer or atleast put a girl beside him instede of the lizerd guy so he looks straighter

:-) Joshua T Smith replies: "Maybe the dragon's a girl? 12"

I think it looks fine without the rest of a background, but what others have suggested would look awesome, too. I also like the anatomy, very awesomely detailed ^^ However, I think his back looks a little straight... or something... it's a very odd-looking posture. He looks as though he's just starting to lean over, and that kind of posture is in itself very awkward... Ever tried holding a pose that you only got half done? It's quite difficult.

The lizard, or dragon, or giant frog-man, or whatever it actually is, is also well-done. The musculature and everything on that creature is just as superb as on the human, but I can't place what exactly it's supposed to be; and with all that talk of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I'm even more confused. If it's a dragon or lizard, shouldn't it have a tail? If it's a frog-man, shouldn't the eyes be a little larger? I don't know, I'm far too confused about that...

Oh, and to whomever said it might be cold up on the mountain... yeah, the air tends to get cooler the higher you go. So, being up on a mountain would tend to get quite cold, but at least you know the facts about shrinkage. One thing's for certain, he's still very well endowed! >.> Seriously, if that's how big it is in cold weather, I'd love to see him lounging by a fire!! And even if he's not being plagued by cold, he'd still get much bigger when aroused; so bring it on, big boy!
