SciFi and Fantasy Art: Nix

My rendering of a phoenix. This opal toned creature is very dear to my heart for many reasons the least being she is my Were.

Very striking gaze, has that bird. About the comment above - on my world the Phoenix isn't all-male either - in face, SHE's a one-of-a-kind Were. It's fantasy, you can change it. Besides, there are a lot of firebird legends similar to the phoenix; variations on the theme (I'm painting a pic of mine right now). Anyhoo, lovely feather detail, and once again, what a peircing gaze!

In response to an already well-chewed topic, I at least always thought that the pheonix's were female, after all, they bie and rebirth at the sametime, burning in their nests of sticks and insence (sp?) and bursting forth to be reborn again. But eh...tis fantasy and I just cant resist the chance to goad poeple who are so sure of themselves, and are wrong. Great pic, I might try my hand at a Pheonix sometime.

Beautiful work on the head and crest-feathers in particular, and I love the soft, subtle colors. What a gorgeous bird! Definitely on the "top ten Elfwood Phoenixes" list.

One of the BEST pastel phoenixes I have ever seen.

This is so beautiful. The pose and use of colors is wonderful!

The fact that it has all (5) of it's claws on all four limbs makes it seem a bit.. prehistoric. A bit of the archaeopteryx, perhaps? Or the mid-form, between full-man and full-bird?

Beautiful picture, I love the colors. Very well in keeping on the legend that phoenixes are not of flaming feather, but merely brightly colored, and flaming only in their rebirth.

I love the way you used so many colors on this without making it look overdone. All the colors really emphasize his regal posture 2 Well done!
