| 18 Sep 2003 | Laney 'Insane Tio' Fowle | I think that the nose is a little large and the forehead is a bit small. But still, very nice pic. You can draw profiles a lot better than i can! Just keep practicing. I love the hair though...Its so....Fweee! Ppl!!!!!!!! Go check out my gallery! I just got into elfwood and i want some comments! ^^ thanx! Rottem C. | 18 Sep 2003 | Heather R. Davis | Personally, I've always found doing realistic drawings actually difficult if done at a perfect profile or portrait angle, and have always prefered something more in between. Personal preference aside, her forehead *is* a bit small. Her head should be a bit rounder (esp. in the back), as it is too narrow in the back. It is probably better if you draw a thin line as though she were bald first, then add the hair on top of that. At profile view, the face should take up less than a third the total head size at side view. Technically you should not be able to see the full eye, only half of it. You should be able to see the round of the eyeball towards the very left end of the drawing of the face. Don't be afraid to define any other facial features, like her chin, with very light shading. (The drawing could use more shading for definition.) Her body is small in proportion to her head. The nose is big, and if that was your intention you did well, I like the shape. The lips could use a little more definition. Best way to go on a realistic drawing is to look at photographs of models or anyone really, preferably in black and white. Very good first attempt! There are guides online on how to draw realistic faces. I dont know of any off hand, but I am sure they aren't hard to find. There are also several books on it. Very nice drawing Rottem C. Sand replies: "Thank you, it helped me very much!! *fixing the forehead* Actually, I tried a profile because I was sitting in class & the people around me were looking forward. Head: you are right, ofcourse (sp ~_~). That's very important. Shading: I'll add some more when I'll add a background.
Thanks again ^^." | |
| 18 Sep 2003 | Christel L. Ries | I think maybe for the lips, you might make the bottom one not come back so far... if you get what I'm saying. Sorta make it a bit lighter by the corners. And her forehead looks a bit small for the size of her nose and chin, you could try to fix that a little... I hope that helped. Rottem C. Sand replies: "You are right about the lips, I fixed it and it looks better. Thanks!! I will try to enlarge her forehead." | |
| 8 Dec 2003 | Elphaea <melaniet | Her forehead is to small and her nose is to heavy, her eye is also to much up, so I agree with the one under me | |
| 20 Jan 2004 | R Gemmell | Profiles are extremely difficult to do! If you want help, there's a fantastic website on portraits at: http://www.portrait-artist.org/ that helped me loads- hope it helps! | |
| 7 Feb 2004 | Erica *Gryphon* Mathews | A lot better than my attempts at realism! You actually put some detail in the hair! *shudders at her own blob-hair peoples* You may have heard this already, but the nose just looks a little big, and she needs some more forehead. Other than that, this is pretty good. Tell me when you draw another like this! | |
