SciFi and Fantasy Art: Fire of the Dance

This is a picture I drew for the cover of a dance show I was part of. There are three fire birds although one you can't see one very well. I was trying a slightly different style. I actually drew the picture in pencil and then drew over them on the computer, with a mouse! I am very pleased with the way this turned out. ^-^

I like your choice of colours - the black and blue really makes the orange stand out. 2 (And I see all three birdies!)

:-) Katie "FireBird" Wakelin replies: "Good, I was going to not have any clothes at all, but since this was for a school production I thought that the head might just have something to say about that....^-^"

I see all three birds and I think the clothes are very nice. Good work, very pretty and interesting!

The colors in this one are absolutely amazing! It glows on the dark background. You did this with a mouse?! Wow! Great job!

:-) Katie "FireBird" Wakelin replies: "I always use a mouse! I can’t work with my tablet except for the sort of scribbley random lines that I am sometimes forced to do on things like hair. I think it’s too small or something.... *Grins ruefully* oh well!"

You know, I’ve been meaning to mention for a good long while now how much I adore this picture... o_O So less, its great. The colors, the lines, the shading, the contrast of light and dark in conjunction with the high saturation... just lovely.

:-) Katie "FireBird" Wakelin replies: "Thanx! Yeah this took FOREVER! It’s probably one of my favs even though it was realy hard to get the lines right and they still aren’t perfect.......<_>
Ah well! Glad you like it.....^-^"

THE DANCE SHOW PROGRAM COVER DESIGN! You know everyone’s been saying it’s a really good picture (but the person had normal coloured skin) and now you’ve added all the special things to it like the dark background and blue skin it’s even better!

:-) Katie "FireBird" Wakelin replies: "This is the original. Miss G. inverted the colours on Photoshop so it looked more summery"

Simple but effective. Wonderful! The contrast really makes the figure stand out. But when it was put on the booklet the background was white =( Which is a shame... Well done, it’s great to keep trying out new techniques =)

:-) Katie "FireBird" Wakelin replies: "Yes, Miss G inverted the colours to make it more summery *ish tired of saying so* Glad you like this version tho ^-^ Thanx for the comment"
