SciFi and Fantasy Art: Elydryl Ne Erivon; Lady General of Murayn Nar, Queen of Kemry.'It is not a glorious thing we fight for. Life; blood, dirt, and pain, the agony and the joy of it. A poor, twisted thing that struggles on when every star in the heavens is willing it to lay down and die, to end its own misery. But it is all we have, and we will never bear to lose it; though each day passing brings more of blood, dirt, and pain, though all the world wills it otherwise, we will never let it go. This last disgraceful treasure, this pitiful jewel, grasped in blood stained hands 'til the flesh is gouged and the fingers raw - this is life.' -Elydryl The main character in one of my books in progress. Pencil on 9 by 11 paper.

The quote is great, too...an excellent, excellent picture all around. I must say, this shows that your art has reached a new level. ::applauds wildly:: Bravo!
| 25 Oct 2001 | Charles Harden Tharp V | I like the shading. Nice, huge neck. She looks tough, without much of a sense of humor. I also like the fine detail on the hair. Very cool pic.She has a sense of humor, but it's been locked away for safekeeping. I'll have to fix that neck... | |
| 27 Oct 2001 | 'lexx <star_asterix@hot...com> | it's it's it's.... ! it's *gasp* an UPDATE! Wowie! 8rubs eyes* wow, careful how y'fling these things round, gonna hurt someone.... *slow breaths* ok... he shading on this is FANTASTIC! Your proportion and construction of faces is improving with every pic - her eyes look SO real here, it makes her face alive. It's funny, in the thumbnail she looks kindof forlorn and pensive, but inthe full sized image it translates more to a set determination, almost a pout... cute pout | |
| 29 Oct 2001 | Jordi Landier | You don't feel like making jokes in front of her... It seems like if she hasn't been smiling since, well, a hell of a long time. However, she has those strong features that make her look like a real warrior, not like another locked-in-the-tower-and-waiting-for-rescue princess. This is what I like in her. And also the details and shadings, wow, the hair... By the way, what is fiddle music, Saja ?She hasn't had reason to laugh for a long time, you're quite correct. Tu comprende, mon ami! Fiddle music is a term applied to a lot of celtic and american folk music where one of the primary melody instruments is a violin. Salut! | |
| 30 Dec 2001 | Jasmin Islam | Very nicely drawn, your shading is magnificent *applauds* And might I also add that your writing also sounds very promising? Wrong place to say it, but it is very powerful writing, it has an intimate quality, the use of metaphor is great. Nice picture!Thankyou. I think I might like the writing more than the picture here. | |
| 21 Jan 2002 | Julie R. Kowalski | Excellent drawing and so very neat and precise, bravo! | |
| 26 Aug 2002 | John Teall | Your quote makes me think some people just seem to insist on doing things the hard way - it may be a less 'romantic' thought but solving problems by putting more effort into emposing arbitrary assumptions upon them is a bit like beating our heads against a wall - it may feel good when it stops but putting less effort into creating them in the first place is generaly somewhat more effective - however much less popular - which is puzzling why it would be - ok it's not that puzzling - it's even more or less obvious - most people somehow manage to brainwash themselves and each other into believing they can't be bothered to think about things like that ... and so of course ... ~ My dad and I tease my mom by saying that her motto is "No way like the hard way!" - but that's in respect to building our house. Elydryl *is* caught in a nasty situation - there might be an easy escape for her, but if she did that, I wouldn't have anything to write the story about! | |
| 5 Feb 2003 | Anonymous <branume@cc...edu> | Very nice Sarah! (It's Rica btw), I do like the shading, it's very very awesome...looking at it closer up the neck is very very masculine. She looks more determined to me and that is fitting, keep up the work and try doing some simple gesture drawings of people you see going by to get a better feel for the human body.Geez, tell a trusted person your weakness and they go and give you helpful advice...what's the world coming to? | |
