SciFi and Fantasy Art: Space ship from 'I Feel Free'

I'm working on a 3D video and here's the first test shot. This is quite a few hours of work in Ray Dream Studio. The bunch in #loth informs me that I need to work on the lighting some, but I'm not quite sure what I need to do with that. The surface texturing is the sign of a progression in my 3D style. I'm using a B5-styled blocky texture, but combining it with a more model-built bumpy look that I traditionally have used in my space ships. There's alot that you don't see. This time I modeled the internal structure and built a skin over it. I'm planning on showing it halfway destroyed, so that counts.. ;)

Interesting. The bumpy texture reminds me of dog-tags, or something that's been shot at, inside-out. Kinda makes you wonder...

i think the primary light source is somewhere near the observer's pov. and not the nebuloid looking thing in the lower right would resauld in backlighting and obscure everything but the onboard lighting if it were. the ambient could be a little more even. not being familiar with actualy using ray-dream i can't say what's causing that. i think the on-board light sources look a little too bright though. texturing and background both work good for me in this one.

I like! Very smooth, an interesting design and a nice rendering of it.
