SciFi and Fantasy Art: Werewolf Pumpkin

Those of you who know me know I absolutely LOVE Halloween. It's the one time of year, where I don't feel guilty for scaring little kids or big kids (I did scare some UA football players a couple years ago *grin*)... Anyway, back in High School, I started a hobby of designing something to carve in my pumpkins each year. I try to take pictures of 'em all and tweak the designs every year.

This Werewolf design is a little older. It's not my best, but I felt it a good representation of my work with respect to pumpkins. I had to poll people to get ideas for something different for 2002's pumpkin design. In the end, it came down to a werewolf or Dr Jekyll & Mr. Hyde or a Mad Scientist motif. I choose the werewolf. Carving time is approximately 1.5 hours. The difficulty is moderate. (Note: There are no design flaws.)

If there's anything you'd like to see a pumpkin pattern of, let me know. I wouldn't mind the extra ideas, but I do call dibs on carving it for Halloween before anyone else *wink*

I think that is an awesome design--the hairs on the wolf seem to be a challenge, but I am sure when pulled off, the whole pumpkin has a greater effect! 2 I bet putting a few more indications of trees around the whole pumpkin would be a neat thing, too. Nice design!

:-) Kathryn J. Hammond replies: "Thanks! I just did a White Rabbit (from Disney's Alice in Wonderland) pattern. It tops this one, but I cannot post it at Elfwood (I don't have enough fan art to start a gallery). Feel free to use this and any of my other pumpkin patterns if you so desire. I keep them available for free use. Thanks for the comment(s)!"

Awsome pumpkin design, it rocks.

:-) Kathryn J. Hammond replies: "Thank you! I do take requests; however, I'm swamped with things to do right now so if you wanted a custom p'kin pattern, it would have to be for next year!"

:-) Kathryn J. Hammond replies: "Wow! I didn’t even think anyone visited my gallery anymore. Your carving looks superb. Thanks for linking me to the photo-- I really enjoy seeing my pumpkin art show up somewhere besides my own house! I do custom drawings (for free) as I’ve time, so if you have an idea for next year’s pumpkin, let me know. I’ll see what I can put together."
