| 26 Mar 2002 | Geoff T | Gee im 24 now and although i now finally consider myself just good enough to be considered proffessional, i wasn't as good as you at your age. Anyway, i started to do life drawing at 14, and the advise i was given at the time is true... the better you can draw the human figure, clothed, and/or unclothed from many different anges and characterisations, the easier everything else will be to draw, or do art about. Keep up the good work, and if u have time and money, try out a Life drawing class. U have lots of potential. | |
| 24 Apr 2002 | Jake | also your legs are short on almost every character.
When I started my thing was the heads on my drawings were always too big. Everyone has a thing like that. It should be an equal distance from the top of the head to the pubis mound and from the pubis to the bottom of the feet.
| 24 Apr 2002 | Jake | I work at a major video game studio as an artist and a 3d character modeler/sculptor.
Study the proportions of the body by looking them up in artistic anatomy books. Invest in about 10 good anatomy books. But, if your short on cash at least get a red book called "artistic anatomy" and also pick up "drawing the marvel way". Your forms look good but the proportions are off. Also try and gesture through the figure and mass in form very lightly with your pencil before commiting to your lines. Basically this is all in drawing the marvel way. If you actually do this your stuff will get alot better. Not that its bad its a very good start you have the potential to be awesome you just need to get more acedemic about your art and study all the bones in the body until you can draw and label every muscle and bone in the body from memory without reference.
