| 20 Jul 1999 | Maja Ilisch | You're right, there's something wrong with this picture ... I think it's the mouth. Her teeth show a wide grin, but there is no motion in the rest of her face. Grinning like that makes your cheeks rise, and the eyes seem to be smaller and get some laughter lines. I covered her mouth with my finger and she looked like a really nice girl to me, and quite well drawn. I removed the finger - nowe here's that effect again. But grinning makes the face look wider, you got that right. And my ears are not much larger, either. So it's not as bad as you think it it. | |
| 13 Nov 1999 | Mari Rose | One thing I use to help to place mouths and ears is these tips:
1. The edges of the lips end at roughly the halfway point on each of the eyes.
2. The ears length tends to be from the eyebrow to the bottom of the nose.
| 26 Nov 1999 | Dorota K. Gronkiewicz | Hey, there's nothing wrong with the picture. Oh, you could draw a little bit more hair, but it's totally ok. You know, in fact it looks very real, because nobody's perfect. I am watching the pictures - every face is so beautiful and just unreal. When I look in the mirror, I cannot see a perfect girl. And I can't see any perfect girls when I look around me. This picture shows the girl just like she is, it doesn't make her perfect, and that's why I like it so much! =0) | |
| 24 May 2000 | Dave | you only know that you have an artistic temprement when you pick fault with damn near everything you do, this is what drives us to improve our techniqes, don't worry, you'll getit right some day, i've been trying to get it right for some 15 years and i still don't like much of my work but that's the perfecitonist for you! | |
| 10 Sep 2000 | Selina A. Fenech | There's nothing wrong with her, she has character! Her ear could be a bit longer, the "average" ear should go from the top of the eye to the bottom of the nose area, sort of, but I think she's cute with small ears! And what I can see of the shading and lighting looks wonderful! And you say you're 14? I wasn't drawing this good until I was at least 17! | |
| 19 Mar 2002 | Angie Watts | You are right about the ears and mouth. The eyes and nose are fine. A good tip for ears are that the top of them should be even with the pupol in the eye, and the bottem should be even with the mouth. Now then, with the mouth, the corners of the mouth should be even with pupols. Also, make the lips fuller, that will make a world of difference. | |
| 13 Apr 2002 | Ilthion | Kind of looks like someone in my math class. | |
| 26 May 2002 | A. C. Gleason | One thing that helped me alot with noses is when someone--I can't remember who-- told me to try drawing the shadows instead of a line to make the shape of the nose. I still have difficulty, but it has helped me to improve a lot. Good luck! | |
| 9 Apr 2003 | L. Mitchell | Don't be so hard on yourself. I think this looks really good, just fix the things that you see wrong (like the ears).
Leave the lips alone. She's not a beauty queen, but how many people really are? I think she looks more like a real person, and that's the beauty of it.
I'm adding this to a Facial Expressions tour. If you do not want it on there, please email me at jammin_edward@yahoo.de to request it removed.
