Made in my illustrations-class. We had an assignment where we were supposed to illustrate a poem by Louise Stigell. She wrote about a sandbox she had when she was a little girl. But the sandbox was so full of ants, so she couldn't play there anymore. People thought that she didn't like her sandbox, but she did! I won't translate it into english now. If you're terrebly desperate, you will have to ask for it..

I'm really happy with the position of the girl, and that there is a little air between the body and the hat turned out really cool! In the original painting there is a light-blue sky (you can see a little blue between the girl and the ant..) and very, very light-green grass, but most of it was lost in the scanning because of the transparency of the colours..

I had a little problem with the ant. I wanted to make it as realistic as possible. The legs were a great challenge! Where in heavens name are the legs attached to the body?! I compromised by putting two of them between the 'behind' and the middle, and the last pair behind the head.. I don't think this is the way it really is, but it was the best I could do..

I REALLY like this picture. The little girl seem so sweet =) By the way. About the antlegs. I think you've made a great work. Look at this page http://www.bioresurs.uu.se/myller/skog/skog_bild/myra_med_larv.jpg and there you see where the legs are attached to the body =)

:-) Elin snoozy Knudsen replies: "Ah, well. The legs are a little off. But even so, I really like this picture! Glad you like it too! I also think that the girl looks very sweet, and a little sad perhaps. But can you blame her? After all, her sandbox has been taken over by a humungus insect!"

What an adorable picture, I love it! I really like the soft, beautiful watercolor technique you've used, and the ant is so vivid and wild-looking! But I guess he's quite friendly, not a fire ant I hope : )

:-) Elin snoozy Knudsen replies: "Thank you, I quite like it myself. Although this scanned version seriously sucks! Yeah, I had a hard time getting the ant right, but it turned out really great! Nah, he's not that friendly, but not exactly an insane killer-ant either. Let's say he's neutral..."

Hmm, there is something about the picture. Can't put words to it, damnit. Its nothing to be corrected, its just... The picture has a feel to it. Really good. I could sit for my more than fair share of time and look at it, trying to figure out what it is.

:-) Elin snoozy Knudsen replies: "Oh dear, that must be the most flattering thing someone has ever said about my art! Thank you so much, it really means alot to me!"

Jeez if I saw THAT when I played when I was little I’d still be running.

:-) Elin snoozy Knudsen replies: "Yeah, it doesn’t seem all that friendly, does it?"

Excellent use of watercolours! Less is more. Both weird and cute!

:-) Elin snoozy Knudsen replies: "Thank you so much! That means a lot coming from you!"
