SciFi and Fantasy Art: Hmm..Ancient Elven art?

What would ancient Elven art be like? Could it have resembled our own? This is ink on tracing paper (though I didn't trace it. The ink just doesn't bleed crazily on the tracing paper ;) The reference pic I used for this was of a ceiling design in a private home, I found it in a magazine over a decade old ^_^ The figures themselves were less than an inch tall. My eyes hurt ^_^

I don't know why there are no comments yet this is gorgeous and wonderfully understated, I've tried to make out obscure details in picturs myself although I usually end up cheating by scanning and enlarging on the computer for the sake of my already damaged eyes (too much latenight reading with a torch as a kid) The clothing looks great and there seems to be a story in this- I could imagine it as a design on a pot or wall freeze (sp?) in a well-healed elvin home Thanks! I still think I messed up the girl's face though. And I tried it around five times before I just gave up and inked it. Ah well.

That´s a good idea, i like a lot the creases of the girl´s dress. It reminds me from greek urns. Ooh, now I just have the urge to do a pot with this on it... It would take forever!

The picture has great potential for the imagination, it looks like it belongs to a Greek epic about some hero. I especially like the "furniture."

Very Cool. I think you got a good idea on how elves look in the midevil era. Looks very romantic lol.

Ha! Since elves are from Scandinavian folklore I'm not sure they'd like to be represented in classical Grecian style (damned degenerate southern Mediterranean types!); they may be paying you a Visit sometime to straighten things out...

But yes – very clever idea!

I think you are right in that it is based a lot on our own art.

Think back to the wonders of the Greek world mixed in with Celtic designs and a bit of fantasy (or artistic license) thrown in.

I think it is a beautiful drawing. I wish I could produce wonderful stuff like this from my head.
