SciFi and Fantasy Art: Shargon

...From the depths of the ocean snakes a silent creature, whisking through the water like an eel. But it is too large to be one; the body isn't quite right. It's color reflects and absorbs light at the same time, a half-glow that surrounds it at only the right angles. As the beast comes closer, the rippling muscles in its arms and tail as it pushes through the water become visible. It has a streamlined head with spiky appendages at the end of its jaws that cover its gills. Red eyes glare like laser pinpoints, chilling you to the bone. It comes closer, rearing its head and opening its jaws, keen, yellowed fangs starting to strike down...

MY creation everyone, don't steal him! I really wish I could color him, but I rather like him this way and don't want to ruin him. He is supposed to be silver and red, for the silver reflects light and red is the (last? or first?) to penetrate into the water. He is a cross between a shark and a dragon (therefore crummy name of Shargon), and has the habits, habitat, and colors of a viperfish. I have no knowledge whatsoever of anatomy so excuse any misplaced lines. I just draw lines where they look best =)

This pic is just so amazing! I love it! The sleek, agile shargon, the rocks, everything! Those hands/claws/whatever is just great! The spikes/fins on it's back are neat. You should colour this pic, no matter what. I know you don't want to ruin the picture, but why don't you scan the pic and print it out? That way you can colour the copy and see if you like the coloured version better than the b&w without ruining anything. This would be so great in colours. Strong colours, like oil/wax colours, or maybe crayons where you press them really hard against the paper. Great pic. Great great great!

I love crossing animals to make unique creatures! I am especially fond of my own Priguana (a piggish frog with an iguana tail). Anyhow, I love the sleekness of your Shargon; he seems regal and forboding. You did very nicely on the lines and his face is well drawn. Keep up the nice work!

Nicely done! I seriously love your work! I wish my creatures would look like yours. Mine usually come out scary and creepy and something that might come out of your closet and eat you. Yours are so cute compared to mine (not to take away the scarieness lol) i love they way they always have that kind of glow in their eye it makes them look real and not something that would eat you (yikes)

Hey that is soo cool! I like making up funny little critters, too. My fave is the quizzit, some kind of ferrety-wolfy thing which I can't draw very well 8 oh well! Very nice piccy - and I was about to suggest you gave it webbed feet but I saw you already have! MAKE IT NOT AS DETAILED SO PEOPLE CAN SUGGEST HOW TO IMPROVE IT! *snork.*
