SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Impaler

This piece represents a refinement of my watercolour technique. I used the black drawing ink in three different tones by mixing it with water in different quantities, never applying ink straight from the tube. This way, i get much more control over the dark tones. The piece was a birthday present for my girlfried. It should be on the wall by her bed. HAPPY BIRTHDAY an SWEET DREAMS! Love you.

UPDATE - The pic was digitally revamped in Photoshop to gain impact. I uses a wacom tablet to paint in all the extra detail and light.

Ah, a demonic figure on a pile of skulls...and age old gift to represent true love. Excellent job, I don't know how some people get their watercolors so sharp.

The Impaler? Anything like 'Vlad the Impaler'? Great work!

This picture is one of the favourites for me among all the pics ever posted on elfwood. Just look at all the power represented in his face. Immense!

Keep up the good work!

oh i like the Stoker/Vladimos the Ipaler reference here. If it is a take on Dracula then I must say that it bares a chillingly close resemblence to my own artwork/image of the Count. I love the smug/prideful malice in this guy's twisted little face! you have managed to make him look emaciated but supernaturally gifted: seemingly weak but quite obviously strong. QUALITY!

aaw, he just looks so happy, doesn't he? and all proud of himself, like a manic cat bringing in a small dead mammal for you to enthuse over. Can I keep him? I promise to feed him...

Wow, I love the atmosphere of this picture, and parts of it look super realistic (the wing tips at the bottom especially, something about the way they reflect the light makes them nearly pop right off the page).

Very nice. I like the greenish fog and transition from green to orange. Also, great work with wings - visualizing hard skin on it. And I like the psychotic grin 2 And the fact that he is living in the wasteland 2)
