SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Impaler (detail)

It took me a while to paint the face and neck, with all the right tension in the muscles. Also, I wanted the wings to be 'leathery', in contrast to the smooth skin of the upper body, which meant painting a time consuming texture over a large surface. I made the task easier by painting in detail only around the joints.

Yeah. Between this, Noferatu, and that things dressed in Santa's coat, I'm gonna have my share of nightmares tonight! Of course, if they're anything like your art, they will be wonderfully shaded, and convincingly rendered dreams.

I used to think that I could work on paper, but the sheer beauty of your work makes me cringe. The impaler will haunt my dreams forever, lol.

Looks like your mother

:-) Bruno Krippahl replies: "No it doesn´t. My mother´s wings are smaller."
