SciFi and Fantasy Art: NosferatuI wanted this one to be really scary, so i chose to paint it in black with some dark, dramatic shadows. The messy look of the background was achieved with an old tooth brush, it came out great! Alas, the small size, reduces the impact. | |

| 1 Apr 2002 | Marie | This is one of my absolute favourite pieces of art..and not just in elfwood, but in general. It really draws you in, while managing to stay very creepy. What really makes it so great is that so little is actually drawn, but what is there guides the imagination to do its worst. You want to go closer to see more, and in the same time you ..well..don't. It reminds me of the nightmares i had as a kid, which were not about monsters chasing me but of charged atmosphere, the feeling that something very terrible was just about to be revealed, and I could not close my eyes or wake myself up. Oh, and i love the nosferatu. Thank you for this beautiful picture. | |
| 19 Oct 2002 | Dan | Oh, Nosferatu means disease carrier, that makes so much sense. In the 1922 Nosferatu, when Count Orlock (Murnau's --the director-- version of Dracula), went to London, a mysterious disease started killing off the city's people. Also as he was going to London the sailors on his ship equally mysteriously became ill with fevers and other sickly ailments. | |
| 1 Jul 2003 | The Queen Fairy | Whoa...love how the majority of this guy is hidden in shadow. Not only that, but the parts that ARE shown (Face, hands...) are very detailed. Wouldn't want to be around when HE wakes up. | |

| 11 Nov 2003 | Emma Siobhan Maclay Jenkin | I almost peed myself when I saw this. Well, I lie. But it's still really scary. When I saw the thumbnail I thought, 'hey, it'll be a cool vampire! score' and then I see it and WOAH! terrifying! but, as always, amazing. I've read Stoker's Dracula, one or two Rice novels, and Carpe Jugulum, and I've seen Shadow of the Vampire, and I've never been as scared of any vampire as I am of this one. Keep it up. | |
| 21 Jan 2004 | Aurora | Now i cant go to sleep, grrr! Jk, its really good, in that creepy way that everyone is talking about. Hm, now i have to find a way to sleep, need sleep. *goes off to look at faeries and whatnot* *looks back to make sure is not followed, runs* | |
| 28 Aug 2004 | Non Sphère à Tous | Though usually rather disinterested in things black and creepy, I feel the urge to commend you for the absolutely bee-autiful picture of Nosferatu in coffin. That background texture especially takes my breath! Thank you for sharing. | |
| 11 Dec 2004 | Stacey Barnett | You used a toothbrush? You are such a genious >_< I don't think i know anyone who could have thought of that! And I believe you about the size decreasing the impact. This picture must be like 10 times better in real life. | |
| 18 Apr 2008 | Anca-Raluca "Nekorrim" Sandu | I don’t even know what to say about this, could go well with a prize for best classical shots and even creepiest poses. Amazing! | |
