SciFi and Fantasy Art: Legend of the Oracle: The Empress of Touyou
This picture reminded me why I hate complex clothing. ::sigh:: Anyhow, this is Aelin from Legend of the Oracle (another one of my writing works in progress). I think I might have been on a Fushigi Yuugi kick while drawing this, because the outfit resembles Hotohori's emperor robes...
Aelin is the only legitimate heir to the throne of Touyou, so naturally she assumes the throne upon her father's death. This is the outfit she's stuck into afterwards. And she doesn't look too happy about it... (I mixed cultures while doing this. The outfit is reminiscent of chinese emperor robes while the majority of the Touyou culture stems from typical medival fantasy.) The crescent moon design in the background is the symbol of the Oracle of the East, whom the people of Touyou worship.
