SciFi and Fantasy Art: Phoenix

This was actually inspired by a card in one of my Tarot Decks. I was looking for something to fill in a blank spot for an assignment in school, and he was there. He only took up a corner of the drawing, and I decided that I liked him, so I took out a full piece of paper and drew him... and here ya go.

This picture is beautiful! It reminds me very much of folk art, and it's going straight onto my "Exquisite Animals of Elfwood" tour! ;-)

Hello I was wondering could you e-mail me back with the Tarot Card deck this is from cause i love phoenix and i would like to get the deck! thanks i love the picture
Actually.. The phoenix I used as a model for this one is the ONLY phoenix in the Tarot Deck. If you really want it though... It's the Symbolon Tarot Deck. It's rather... different from traditional Tarot Decks.. And mixes the Pagan religions in with the Christian religions.. and you get a lot of contrast of card to card. I refuse to read with the full deck.. and tend to pull certain cards out, like the abortion card, or the Satanic Ritual Card. 2

WOW! Now my eyeballs are all scorched. Apart from the EXCELLENT use of colour, what really captivates me is phoenix's pose. It looks almost humanoid, as if its wings are this huge cloak held behind it or something ... that's striking.
