SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dragon Profile

I prefer to make my dragons less bulky and spiky, more serpentine, often with hide (a la Anne McCaffrey) instead of scales. Of course, this means they often end up looking less imposing then I tend to feel they would be. This one has started, in my mind, to resemble a horse of rather wicked temperament by the name of Foyer.

Actually I don't think dragons should look imposing. That's just a recent stereo-type. A lot of dragons are actually gentle in nature. The original concept of dragons came about in the orient, where they are seen as symbols of good-luck and bringers of fortune. And besides, though this may sound crazy, I -was- a dragon in at least two of my previous lives.

if you want them to be more imposing then add small blended lines on the snout and around the mouth and eyes. Cindy is right, not all dragons are evil or even mean spirited it is just a recent stereo-type. most just keep to them selves thats all. you can contact me if you want some tips

Your drake is beautiful, it looks like my spirit guide. It looks like an earth dragon. You should draw more of these.

The link won't work yet, fogive me.

Of course, now I get to comment on the drawing. I like the idea of the hide rather then the scales. Drawing the scales would make it look 'busy'. Also, if I use dragons in my stories, I usually make them wise and defensive. The scales and spikes would make them look to agressive and primal.

Also, I was wondering if you'd be posting any weapons for your lady-knight. I like to use what I see to derive off of.

Something is strange about the eye.
When the head is tilted like that, and i would suppose that the eyes would be tilted with the head.
