SciFi and Fantasy Art: Flight of the Horse

This was supposed to be a pegasus but I didn't have enough room on the paper for the wings. The paper isn't as pink as the scan has it.

I like this! I can actually find a fault in your work! (I work a lot with horses, that's the only reason why!) On the legs of your wingless pegasus (what's the plural of that, pegasi? pegasus's? hmm.) Lengthen the cannon bones on the legs and give the ankles a bit more flex. The pegasus looks a bit tense, do you know what I mean? Its flank could lose just a bit of that flab, maybe tighten it up and bring it in toward the body above its hock and show more muscle. Very few things on a horse look soft. You have kind of a high shoulder but it fits very well with the way you do your head and neck. soften the point of the elbow to about a 135 degree angle instead of the 90 degree that it's at. With a smidgeon of work, I might not be able to find fault in your horses as well...*grins devilishly* Keep up the good work!

Ahem...excuse me while I be technical and all that (I can't help but do that!) In response to the comment above, there -isn't- a plural form of Pegasus! There was only -one- Pegasus, it's the -name- of the first ever winged horse, not the species name! I really hate when people do that. A horse with wings is called a winged horse. Okay, now about the picture. It's really good except it looks kinda cartoonish because the horse is smiling and they aren't capable of moving their "lips" that way (yeah I know I'm really technical on things like that). The tail is kind of odd at the one point. I think you should still add wings because you could draw a part of them...or, though it would look really weird, you could make really tiny wings...

Alright all you smarties above. This is a fantasy picture. It's not like its going to be used to teach people the anotomy of equines. Crimany. I think it looks great. The head looks fine and I like the smile ^_^

Etak the Thivis, i agree with you whole heartedly.
Everything you say is true and perfectly correct. I myself have a horse and i draw them constantly with charcoals, pencil, colored pencil and oil pastels (my favorite.) I love Arabian horses as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arabian horse lover ^-^
