SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Mistress of Random

Finally! This one took me ages to complete and then I discovered that the result wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped because of something with the scanning process. Well anyway, I glad to say that this is actually the first picture of a woman that I've ever completed (phew, those female creatures are difficult to get right)! The woman in the picture is a wild mage character that used to be a man called Richard Dalahanty. However, due to a wild surge (that the player actually wanted to happen) he transformed into this woman, who calls herself Catherine. You wouldn't the kind of troubles this has led to in the group, and when she then fell in love with a drow warrior (due to another wild surge), well....

I think she is fabulous..... excellent shading and detail... as for proportions, well, not all people are perfectly proportioned which in my mind makes it a bit more realistic. her thighs are very thin (I call that a twiggy look alike) and her shoulders are broad... to me body wise she reminds me of Sandra Burnheart.

Damn son!!! This is an freakin outstanding piece of artwork. Its by far the best thing you have drawn to date. The shading is excellent, the personality is appropriate and the composition is also well done. The costuming is magnificent and definitely believeable. The only problems here are with her body. Though its not as severe as some of your other, her hips are too narrow and her legs are too thin. Its a rule of thumb to make the hips about the same width of the shoulders and the legs should then be think enough to support the mass of the character. Regardless of its shortfalls, this is an outstanding job!!!!!!!!!

This is a photo? yes?Thomas' reply:No quite! As you can see her proportions are a bit messed up, but I did use a picture of a woman as a reference...I'll take your comment as a compliment anyway!

I feel the need to comment... The fabrics you've drawn here are sheer mastery. It shows that you're new at drawing female figures -- I am, too. I think her legs are too skinny, but it'd be hard to fix that given the work you've put into the leggings. This is really great.

Cool, I loved the way that you used the values, in this drawing their really smooth, and nice...

I will get you eventually, Catherine!!!!!

You dont steel from me and expect to get away with it, do you??Thomas' reply: Oh, you insignificant mortal fleck of dust...what could you possibly do to interfere with the wild powers that course through my veins? By the way, do you have anything woth stealing these days?

there are anatomical problems, but as Dell has said, the pencilwork is still masterly.
I find it mind-boggling, though, about this character's gender-changing abilities. Must have been immensely inconveniencing. For example, clothes, going to the toilet, hair, parts of the body becoming different...*ahem*
Okay, I should stop rambling now.
