SciFi and Fantasy Art: Great Fafnir, Ruler in the South

The tile is a line in 'The Dragon Prayer' a poem by William J. Rogers, Jr. Fafnir is one of the elemental dragons the poem calls upon. This picture is only part of the complete image, the full image includes the stanza that calls upon Fafnir and a parchment background. To see the full image you'll have to visit my webpage and my art galleries there.

I don't know why, but for some reason Fafnir makes me think of the aztec god Quetzacotil (SP?) Wonderful job, especially on the flames

:-) Lynn A. Davis replies: "Since Fafnir is the dragon ruler of the south I deliberately chose the feathered serpent body form. I figure he's just Quetzalcoatl by another name or something."

Ooh, I love the vibrant colours you used on the body and on the flame, and the curling snakelike body. Great!
