SciFi and Fantasy Art: Into the valley of death...

This is my first Tolkien-Inspired picture. In case you don't recognize the scene it's Dernhelm/Eowyn with Merry, heading off to fight at Minas Tirith... Tell me what you think.

This is very nice, and something I pictured quite like that! Pity you can't see the horse (but then I'm a bit mad about horsies 12 ) Anyway, well done!

Eowyn is indeed excellent here, because she convinces for a young man AND, for the readers that know she's a woman, she can pass off as a woman too! That's not easy to pull off. I would like Merry to be a bit more defined under her cloak but that's nitpicking. Its a great pic.

wow! this is very good!!! Eowyn could definitely pass for a guy, with her now-sorrowful face, but if you know she's a girl, you can also see her so! my only complaint (and it's just a teensy one) is that Merry seems to have a wound or a cut on his face and I don't know how it got there...but otherwise, it's most impressive! you DO go for scenes that are rarely illustrted! bravo!

This is a scene you don't see potrayed very often! And so very well done... I love the way you made Eowyn's face, it's so hard to tell if it's male ot female, still you can see that she is beautiful.

Would you mind if I used this in the Eowyn-tour that I'm doing? It would be very appreciated!

This is the first portrayal of this scene I have seen, and a most excelent one in my oppinion!!!!!!! Bravo! And no cleavage! This is one of the first pictures I've seen where Eowyn could pass as a man! What are those people thinking who draw her as a model in a bikini??? This is great. She has such serenity on her face, and Merry looks appropriatly weathered. Pity few other authers share you interpretation... Ah, well, that's not fair, there are other realistic authurs out there... ^_^

Oh, wow... You would never even guess this was Eowyn if you didn't know... Really good job. Go you!

This is magnificent! It's got one of the top three Eowyn drawings I've ever seen. I hope you've done more Tolkien inspired work.

This is an amazing job - many depictions of Eowyn Sheild Maiden of Rohan have looong blonde hair billowing in the wind and clingy clothes making it quite obvious that she's FEMALE. She fooled quite a number of people, but attired like that - not a chance!
That's why i guess I reallty like this picture - its Faithfullness to Tolkien. Excellent work with the picture, Merry's aged look helps with the dreariness and hopelessness of the situation and Eowyn - Bravo! and her wistfully looking back! Very Touching Picture!
