| 14 Jul 2002 | Benjamin F. Battiste | Looks like this picture has run amok to the realism doshin, that seem to roam about Elfwood, looking to prove their superior knowledge of Japanese weapons and history to every artist that they find that don't hold to this strict standard. Amazing how you never see this with the European sect of fantasy! In answer to Krenesky, someone who you know by his knowledge must have lived the way of bushido for years, The Do (breast plate) is usually banded, but into the 18th century, solid plated did appear in use. A katana in both hands? If you restricted yourself to such a limited grip, you would be sucking on your next fight. Though the hilt is too short for a standard two handed grip, if it was a katana, he could freely switch between two and one hand use, depending on if he wanted reach, another weapon, or just some plain power. The picture is great. Keep up the work. | |

| 1 Aug 2002 | Liascient | Hey! But guess what! Who cares! Members of the samurai social class (basically anyone rich enough to buy a katana) rarely saw combat anyway!!!! So who cares if he holds it in one hand or two! That'd be decided solely on the strength and skill of the wielder. And generally, a samurai in a tight spot would use his katana in his main hand and a wakizashi or the katana's scabbard in his off hand, to parry incoming naginata thrusts and what not. Most likely, this guy would be dead in a few seconds, maybe less. Personally, I think Derek L. Hand did a lovely job. And Krenesky... seriously! Kabuto strung together with SILK? lol not a chance. Kabuto is usually bamboo, sometimes laquered, strung together with leather cords. Anyway, sorry to rant. | |
| 21 Sep 2002 | Matt Miller | I agree with pink floyd. I instantly thought shredder from TMNT, although this piece is much much better than I can do for a samurai. | |

| 2 Feb 2003 | Inker | Good Job. Head is a tad big for the body, but hey, it works out pretty well this way. | |
| 2 Feb 2003 | Allison J. Sebastian | very cool! i love samurai (BIG fan of the manga Rurouni Kenshin if you've heard of it) yeh did a great job on all the detail in his armor | |
| 2 May 2003 | Spook | Maybe the head is a bit big. But even if the head was the size of the body, I'd still like it. I'm a sucker for Samauris and Ninjas. Draw more ninjas!!! | |
| 3 May 2003 | Derek L. Hand | What do you mean? There's no such thing as Ninjas... | |
| 28 Nov 2004 | Flake | Hmmm. My first thought was "Ashigaru". But that was just based on the armor, and hat. Very Good! I like it. ^_^ | |
