| 18 May 1999 | Chris | I like your artwork. It shows a lot of originality and creativity. It may lack a little it the different drawing techniques, but that comes with practice. As long as YOU enjoy what you draw, as you obviously do, the rest will fall into place. Don't get down if anyone ever criticizes your work, especially when you're just starting out. Heh..you should see some of the stuff I used to draw | |
| 25 May 1999 | Sylvie Jackson | I think that you have more talent than skill; that sounds rude, but I mean you're better at this than someone who's been drawing forever but hasn't any natural talent. | |
| 18 Aug 2002 | Tamara L. McKnight | You should try shading this picture | |
| 27 Mar 2004 | Jeanette vogel | Very nice lady. I like her outfit and the small stars. ^_^ Colour please! | |
| 19 Sep 2004 | Moira | While this is better than Reske (not saying a lot) I still don't see why you can't make more of an effort before posting your pictures. Looking at other picutres, I've noticed other people making excuses for the quality of your work--"this is an amateur site" "It's barve to put up work of lesser quality". I think that it's far braver to admit that you will never be an incredible artist, stop foisting it on others, try to improve by making any attempt at shading, perspective, realism, and stop degrading the quality of this "amateur site". Oh, and I don't think that the analysis of talent rather than skill was correct. I think it's more like...no talent and no skill. Maggie L.A. Duckworth replies: "Ah, hello Moira. ^^ This is the first of several replies I'll be making to your comments. When I first found elfwood...oh...it must have been 7 or 8 years ago...I felt much the same way you do now. I used elfwood, back then, to search for pictures to use in a chatroom for my characters, and I was exceedingly annoyed when artwork showed up matching my search criteria that I felt wasn't of very good quality. But what I liked about elfwood was the comments. Anyone could put up artwork, and have people comment, for good or for bad, on that work. I knew that the best people to get advice from would be the people that did a lot of drawing, and had gone through what I had. Everyone has to start somewhere. ^^" | |
| 20 Sep 2004 | Brianne M. Hellyer | She isnt forcing it on people- it is your own choice to come here! IF you dont like it- leave! I personally like it! I have a few black and whites up, but i prefer color- but its still good! I think all your pictures would look great. And if you didnt have skill, how come you can draw something like Echo, or the winged war lady?! That moria seemed to have missed Maggie L.A. Duckworth replies: "Mmm....thankyou Brianne. People like Moira can really make a day seem rough. We've all dealt with them before, and...its people like you that leave other comments with optimism who keep the world not so dreary a place. Thankyou, for that. My old work...has a special place in my heart. (Even if I don't like it now. *chuckle*)" | |
