SciFi and Fantasy Art: Random Girl

She has no history! She has...NOTHING!!! Except a picture. She looks pretty fantasy-ish, so I put her here. Whoever she is, she's got some kind of weapon behind her back. It was supposed to be one of those intruiging Japanese swords that I have just forgotten the name of...it'll come to me as SOON as I submit this picture, I know it. Well, I han out of paper, so she has a sword...WE just can't see it. I drew this on a rather bumpy 1 hour airplane ride. Spent 45 minutes painstakingly attempting a Ranma picture and got mad because it wasn't working out, so in revenge I started throwing curved lines on the paper and then there she was. I know there is something wrong with her face...I think the eyes are too high up. Anyhow, Comments REALLY appreciated! (2000)

Looks around... I am first? Woohoow! That blade you mean, is it a Katana? I think the eyes are placed just fine. Love em that big. About the clothes : the look very special, like she wrapped them around her. Think you should make her in color. Like her a lot. Maybe you can name her Nay? Keep it up!

*in agreement with Kim* A katana, mayhaps? Those lovely pieces that run for five-hundred odd dollars and up in the catalogs? *ws* I like her...I mean, your figures could use a little work, but I love your faces, absolutely!!! *thinking she's been working on her faces hard, but she has no access to a working scanner* UGH.

Oooh! She's pretty! I really like the way you draw the eyes also! Yeah, could it be a Katana? Or somethin' else? Erf. I'm helpful. **Rolls eyes** Well, sorry.. erf.

You know what I like about your gallery so much? Every time you put up a new picture, it looks better than the one that came before... You truely are improving. This one looks very good. Keep on drawing, and I am sure you will someday dazzle us all with some really astonishing artwork. (I'd say you're definitely on the right way with this one...)

Katana? Kodachi? Masamune? Yoshiyuki? The last two are just names from swords from Final Fantasy 7. I think this one is very cool. I myself am an otaku. i draw a lot of manga, and I think you did a good job on this picture.Keep it real!

I don't think your drawing is beautiful
my little sisters is better (she's 11)

:-) Maggie L.A. Duckworth replies: "I was only about 15 when I drew this, so I can understand how an 11 year old would draw better. ^^ We all start drawing at different times in our life, but it doesn't mean we can't end up somewhere worth it with our pictures. Its a very small percentage of the world that starts out able to draw or paint masterpeices, ne? ^^ I wish your sister the best of luck...she sounds like she'll really be great someday. Also, feel free to look around the rest of my gallery and see where I've gone since I put this up five years ago."

I really like the eyes, and you definitely have talent! The sword might be a wakashi or tanto, no-dashi could also be a possibility but those swords are really big. THANK YOU for recommending me here, I love this site!

:-) Maggie L.A. Duckworth replies: "I'm so glad to hear you like it! It used to be one of my favorites, also. ^^ If you're looking for more like this, try deviantart.com, as well."
