| 19 Jan 1999 | Maggie L.A. Duckworth | Yeah...the background is screwed up...but in this picture the background isn't important too much. | |
| 19 Jan 1999 | Daniel Routhier | Hmmm I think the perspective is inverted with the windowsills and the table. You still need to practice a lot more. Add details, try some shading, and never give up. | |
| 21 Jan 1999 | Dragonwing | Cute. Keep it up. | |
| 24 Jan 1999 | Ben Heys | take it from a guy who always draws the main subject of a pic and then wants to move on to the next one.....backgrounds though not much fun to do can really make or break a piece....every time I have taken the trouble to do a really good backdrop for a pic it has turned out MUCH better...... | |
| 29 Jan 1999 | | Nice pic. very crisp clean lines and the wall is nicely done. You have an ovious precision of style that will with time and practice become the hallmark of a great artist. Hang with it. | |
| 23 Mar 1999 | Donna McCoy | Well, everyone's carrying on about the background, but actually I think it shows more depth (even if the perspective is off) than the central figure. You've tackled something that is often neglected in images I see in Lothlorien - a background. Your figure seems two dimensional and was not treated with any perspective (to my eye anyway). Keep at it and things will start to click, you'll see! | |
| 12 Jul 1999 | John Teall | the background is isometrics rather then perspective and not all going the same way - this is what a lot of early mideval illustration looked like before artists discouvered the more life like ness of perspective - so that doesn't make it "bad" - just not what most of us havbe become accustom to seeing. - i like the fact that it's there and it is semi-interesting - though i'm not entirely comfortable with the "cyclopian" scale - looks like the place was built by and for someone a lot bigger then she is - of course arcitectural egos being what they soemtimes are a lot of places in rl look that way to - which is not the end of things i prefer but that's me... | |
| 28 Aug 1999 | David Utter | this is your best picture...I like toutch of sadness that you can feel is there... | |
| 19 Sep 2004 | Moira | I'm afraid that i must agree with lawrence. I visit elfwood because it's an extraordinary site with quite a lot of incredible artwork by talented artists whose work is consistently excellent and who work hard to make their pictures as realistic and wonderful as possible. While I enjoy drawing, I kow that what I do is not up to elfwood standards--so I'm not a member. I didn't join--I just enjoy the work on the site. That's why I don't feel hypocritical in suggesting that you do the same, for the reasons. Maggie L.A. Duckworth replies: "Oh, Moira...I really wish you'd reconsider and join elfwood. Sure, there is a lot of crap on here. But...if no one posts their terrible artwork...then they'll never get comments from people on how to improve it. They'll never get any better, and there won't be any beautiful artwork in the world. Its a sad thing to think on. After all...even great artists had their beginnings in utter rubbish. Take a look at my recent artwork, and see where it has gone. If I hadn't posted here...if I hadn't gotten inspiring comments from people that saw that( even though I wasn't great) I had potential...then I couldn't be where I am today. Elfwood isn't made for the drawing elite...its made for people to learn, and for people to show what they have done. *smile* " | |
