SciFi and Fantasy Art: Archery practise -work in progress

Yes, I have a weak spot for archers, anyone who knows me can confirm that. Another weak spot for me is long-haired men... So there, those obsessions resulted in this drawing which at the point is unfinished -drawing the background, or even deciding what should be on the background turned out to be surprisingly difficult. Suggestions are welcome.. :o)

Pencil drawing, december 2005.

The "Fist melee" of that bow is too high, means the string is too short, that bow would probhably break when shot.

1 Hanna Lehmusto replies: "True indeed. At least three times too high. I noticed the same thing, but to correct it would've required erasing almost half of his stomach... I'm just too damn lazy to correct it. Yet such obvious mistake bothers me... I'll see what can be done about it. I'll try?"

I think this picture could be done better by my gran. I think you should reconsider redoing this picture. If it was sent to my email address i should be able 2 fix it up a bit using paint on my computer at home

Obnoxiously insulting and unkind comments are a waste of energy - a waste of your energy to write them and a waste of our energy to have to read them. Perhaps you should go do something productive - make your own drawing and show us how it's done if you think this is so terrible.

At any rate, I definitely like the archer - it's very nicely done. One other thing - it seems strange that he would be pulling an arrow out of his quiver so lazily ... is he not a fan of target practice? If so, then perhaps something in his background could reflect that 1

I really hope you eventually complete this picture - it has a lot of potential!

I am an archer myself and I like this picture. The relaxed stance of the archer shows (to me anyway) a person comfortable with his ("sport"?). I am not a trad archer (I shoot barebow) but I really like this picture.

Haha, I love long-haired archers, too. My best friend has a long-haired archer for a brother, but he's 12. Oh well, maybe when he's older lol.

Ignore many of the previous comments. This picture needs no fixing. It is wonderful. I think for the backround you could do a sort of abstract color theme thing. Dont do a landscape, soft colors, and soft, keep gray for the archer too. there is something special about the simplicity (no plain, just gentle...whatev) of b+w for this picture. Dont let any of those other people change (''fix'' yeah...right) it at all!
