SciFi and Fantasy Art: Nienor in Amon Ethir

'He laid a spell of utter darkness and forgetfulness upon her. She could remember nothing that had ever befallen her, nor her own name, nor the name of any other thing; and for many days she could neither hear, nor see, nor stir by her own will. Then Glaurung left her standing alone upon Amon Ethir, and went back to Nargothrond.' (The Silmarillion)

Watercolour, September 2001. Resizing this made her face really disappear, but I´ll have a better scan of this at my homepage.

This fits almost perfectly with the pictures I saw in my head as I read this... Nienor all alone, filled with emptiness and nothing else. It's a strange scene, but one that is quite inspiring. Once again, you've done such a good job!

The landscape is really reminiscent of what I imagine Middle-earth to be like. Though it does also remind me of the castle ruins that I visited near Turku - I think the area was called Kariina or something like that. This is my favourite in your gallery... the landscape and the figure within it really draws me.

:-) Hanna Lehmusto replies: "You must mean the castle ruins of Kuusisto, located in Kaarina. It´s definitely a beautiful place... "

this is a really extrodinary picture. I agree with ... whoever said it that it really it's my favorite pic out of all of yours. I love the paper you use! What kind of paper is that? every time i use normal paper is it gets all rolled up and stuff. please answer!

:-) Hanna Lehmusto replies: "
Yeap, finding good watercolour paper can be really difficult... My advice is to go for really thick paper, this pic was painted on 335 g/m3 paper (Talens´ Rembrandt, if advertising isn´t prohibited). It won´t curl, no matter how wet it is, and it´s really wonderful to work on. The only disadvantage is the price... Good luck on searching!"

Wow. Brilliant. I especially like how you did the lightning and the wind. And grass looks kinda realistic, I really like this one.

I love this picture especially it's sense of texture. Is it okay if I use it for a quiz result? Please reply.
