SciFi and Fantasy Art: Túrin and Finduilas

'Then the heart of Finduilas was turned from Gwindor and against her will her love was given to Túrin; but Túrin did not percieve what had befallen. And being torn in heart Finduilas became sorrowful; and she grew wan and silent.' (The Silmarillion)

Heh, this picture actually forced me to go back and re-read the part about Túrin in the Silmarillion. I at first thought you had made him way too beautiful (I remembered him as a rough outlaw...).
But see what one may find;
"...and he was in truth the son of Morwen Eledhwen to look upon: dark-haired and pale-skinned, with grey eyes, and his face more beautiful than any other among mortal Men, in the Elder days".

You were right. I have been wrong to scorn Finduilas all this time; now I'm in love with Túrin too...:-/

Wonderful picture, by the way, like the rest of your art!

This is the first picture I've ever seen of Finduilas! Although I've always pictures her with dark hair (Not sure about her true haircolour though), she's very beautiful in this one! I think her death in the Silmarillion is one of the most horrible (as in well-written but tragic) scenes in the book. What a cruel fate..

:-) Hanna Lehmusto replies: "Tragic indeed, isn't it? That's why I love the story... But about Finduilas's hair, Gwindor called her Faelivrin, "sunlight at lake Ivrin" and I have hard time imagining that a lady with dark hair would've been called that (unless she was a really sunny person *g*) And her great-grandmother was a vanya (Indis, wide of Finwë) so she really could've been blonde.. Nah, enough nitpicking. Thanks for the nice comment! "

GET HER HANDS OFF OF MY SON!!!!!!!!!! Being Turin's mother (acording to Mr.Tolkien and my Elven name) I'm a little over-protective despite my 3000 years of age.

I feel a certain connection to Finduilas. She is my elvish namesake. The picture is beautiful. Thank you for shring your talent with all of us!

This is very nice, I love the feeling of this picture... but I think Turin looks just a little too... elvish?

:-) Hanna Lehmusto replies: "Perhaps even a little too pretty for a human, but then again, "and even among the Elves he might be taken for one from the great houses of the Noldor", so his elvishness (is that a word?) in this case, I think, is only proper... "
