SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dryad

Just one of many similar pictures I plan on doing whenever I can find the time to go to the Botanic Gardens - and happen to be in a 'drawy' mood - which alas happens less and less now.

I know she doesn't look like much to most people - but I was enchanted by this tree. If you're ever in Adelaide, she's near the North Terrace entrance that you first come to after the hospital. She's a 'Bull Bay' - Magnolia Granditflora - native to America, I believe. I fell in love with her lopsided breasts and little skirt - but couldn't help feeling that she felt out of place (like on the wrong side of the world!) - dignified but depressed. (Started ages ago but not completed until August 2002)

17 Feb 2003	Nicola K. Baartse	Loading... You're right, this IS enchanting. I grew up in Adelaide and I used to hang out at the Gardens a lot when I was in uni... I don't know the exact tree you drew but it is a beautiful dryad. I think you captured the spirit of the gardens somehow in the picture.
