SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Wise Dragon's Lair

Cool pic! Heh, I can imagine the shelves taking like forever..=) That's one of the reasons I don't do backgrounds that often.. The other reason is that I'm no good at it..

Pretend you can draw? Leia, that's about the silliest thing I've ever heard. You naturally have a grasp for shading and form....a characteristic that the whole of the general population doesn't posess. My one suggestion would be to deepen your shadows and increase your highlights. It adds depth. And I know how you feel when it comes to the detail....I'm doing this one picture with two characters, a couch, 25 candles, a clear table, a puppy, a newspaper, a full fledged christmas tree, a sculpture, picture on the wall, and all in the dark...from my imagination. This is PAINFUL! Ack! Pray that I don't go insane ;-) Oh, and if you want to feel even worse....check out Stephanie Pui-Min Law's "Dawn's Threshold"...in my calculations she would have been our age when she did it. That knocked me down a peg or two I'll tell ya. Your pratience reaped well on this one...I'll be looking forward to more of your work. Thank you for your comment And most of my work ranges from 9X12-16X20. Most of the Xena pics are 16X20.

i have never seen shading that good before il refer to you if anyone asks me how to shade a kick ass dragon!

wow... this picture is really amasing. How can you say that you wish you possessed the talent of half of the artists here at Elfwood... but I think your artwork is really great, and by far above average. It would take me more than even 20 episodes of Red Dwarf to draw a background anywhere near as well as yours... Mainly because I would only be drawing half the time. But still, keep up da good work and keep da koo pics comin.

I love the detail in the bookcase and on the dragon. I am trying to do a still life with some things on a table and its kinda hard to think of things to put on the table.
