SciFi and Fantasy Art: Hippocampus

I ran a competition a while ago and everyone who entered received a 'hatchling' or juvenile creature of their choice. This was drawn for LMMegyessi, who did not have a character of her own but liked my concept of drawing her a hippocampus and specified she'd like it to have betta fish characteristics. So here it is! Now some people have said 'but aren't hippocampus supposed to be part horse?' and yes, they are, and I would like to think that the dragonish face has an equine caste to it. She chose the colours too. Drawn in a combination of aquarell pencils and polychroma pencils.

I might just go back and comment on all of them!! I really like this piece, I think it's once of your better. The colors are fabulous. I like the expression on the face. The blending of the colors and the shading just flow. I really like it. I also like the details on the tail and the fin things. They're great.
