SciFi and Fantasy Art: The phantom of the opera

The Phantom of the Opera in his hide-out, behind him: the mirror, his beloved but also most hated thing, because he wants to look at it, but it shows his own uglyness.

But the mirror is also his gate to the other world:

Through it he sees CHRISTINE....His Love....

I believe that the Phantom is somehow a very mythical creature. It is a creature full of love and hatred. He is also a synonyme for the part in everyone of us, which we don´t like and we want to hide. But we can´t. It is there, and we should learn to live with it and accept it. We can´t kill this creature, it is part of us. If we kill it, we kill ourselfes...

So if you want, you could see this pic also as an Allegory...

-------------------------------------

This was a birthday present for my friend Eva. We saw the movie "Phantom of the Opera" and she loves the phantom so much, so I drew her the Phantom in Manga style...

Long ago, I uploaded the pic, but it wasn´t accepted, but now I tried it again...

Very nice use of watercolours! I feel he's a bit too much on the handsome side, considering he's the Phantom, but maybe that's because he has a pretty mask. I like his costume and his watery reflection most of all.

1 Magdalena Mantler replies: "Yes, maybe he looks a little bit to handsome... But I like him! Thanks for the compliment for the about the reflection - I´m very proud of it myself!! ^.^"
