SciFi and Fantasy Art: Out of the flame - Phoenix

A bit of a departure from my usual color scheme. The scanner was particularly mean to this one. If you know how to piece together several scans without getting seams, please tell me. I based this on an egret, instead of a pheasant as is traditional. Colored pencil.

oh, wow! this phoenix is beautiful.. awesome job, i really like the idea of basing it on an egret, it makes it so beautiful and elegant, like the bird itself. awesome. 2

An egret phoenix.. ^_^V very nice. The bird appears to be readying to rise up out of the flames from the ashes of its old self.. I'd love to see this phoenix rising up out of the flames! I can almost picture this phoenix rising up into the sky upon wings of flame as it races against the sunrise along the horizon. Great job on the realism and on the shading, coloring and the flames. ^-^

The funny thing is, there's actually a strip of (poorly rendered) sky in the full picture, but it was the first thing to go in the scanner attack *L*

Ooh. ^.^; I think what I like most about this is the blue on its wings. And the long neck..it makes it look really graceful. ::Nodnod.:: ^_^ Very spiffy!

I like the contrast and the long egret/crane like neck. It gives it a kind of Chinese feeling. Scan with overlap. Okay, you knew that much. Then put each piece on a separate layer and set the layering mode to "difference" or "subtract". Move one of the pieces around until the overlap is black, or as black as possible and then reset the layering to normal. Keep this up until you have all of the pieces in place. You can do along each adjoining edge if need be. Then you can finally flatten it.

like the phoenix I fly/leaving the lies behind/future's golden for me/there is no one who can stop...oh. hehe, sorry, this pic just reminds me of one of my favorite songs, entitled, "Phoenix", by Stratovarius. that's the band's name, it has nothing to do with the violins.

This is beautiful. I love the way the bird is just rising out of the flames....

I don't see the seams, you blended them very nicely (I hate the way scanners do that! I don't know how to prevent it either) Yet another good one. I likes.
