SciFi and Fantasy Art: Pull Me Under

The working title for this picture was 'Tea for One', which is the name of a song by Led Zeppelin I was listening to when this picture really came together. It goes something like 'How come 24 hours, baby, sometimes seem to slip in a day... a minute seems like a lifetime, baby when I'm feelin' this way..' 'Time' by Pink Floyd was another song instrumental in the completion of this. But when I was listening to 'Pull Me Under' by Dream Theater, it made so much more sense as a title(yes I'm completely unoriginal). There's a lot of little symbolism in this.14' x 17', colored pencil on black paper (which I suppose is akin to painting on black velvet).

Black paper is great, isn't it? And when working on black paper you don't need a background, which is nice 2 Anyways. I really like the stylized wings, they actually inspire me to do some interesting looking wings too. The symbolism is interesting and the composition is great. Actually, I would like to see more art on black paper from you, I like it a lot.

Julia, I really like this new picture. There's so much detail in here! And the wings (they're wings, ne?) are done really well. Draw more! 1 hee hee

Yep, definitely wings! ^^ They were supposed to look metal, like sharp knives. Instead, they just... I dunno, it didn't quite turn out right *L*

Those are very original wings, I must say - and a beautiful choice of colours as well.

Gawd! Okay, fine! I'll do it! I'll comment on all your pictures. About this one.... I love it! Kinda depressing, but hey, life's like that sometimes. The wings DO look like knives, and I like the hourglass in the background... counting down to something, ne?And the cuts on her arm *shudders* reminds me of those people that cut their arm on purpose.... great picture, invokes alot of feelings.

Mmmmmmmmmh, interesting and fascinating... the wings look alike metal. Really interesting. Sad atmosphere.

Who cares if you are 'unoriginal'... You listen to Pink Floyd and Dream Theater, so you are alright in my book 1 And the wings are quite original, they look man-made, by a silver smith or somethijng.
